Late night trains between Southport and Wigan suspended after person found dead on track

Late night trains between Southport and Wigan were suspended last night (21st September) after a person was found dead on the tracks at Appley Bridge.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Appley Bridge station shortly before 9.30pm on Thursday, 21 September following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics also attended but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
