Liveable neighbourhoods scheme in Southport update
A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: “A community led consultation on a proposed Southport Liveable Neighbourhoods scheme was held throughout 2021 in order to engage and discuss any new schemes with the local community.
“Numerous ideas and suggestions have been put forward as part of the proposed scheme, which is part of Sefton Council’s ongoing work with communities to create low traffic communities within the Borough.
“Through detailed feedback we received from our communities, we plan to take forward a number of elements from the original proposals.
"These include:
- Creating a safer environment around and improving links to the primary schools including Linaker Primary school, Birkdale Primary School and St Philips C of E Primary School.
- A proposed new pedestrian or enhanced crossing points on Scarisbrick New Road, Lulworth Road, Aughton Road, Cemetery Road/Eastbourne Road and Eastbourne Road / Liverpool Road / Crescent Road
- The creation of safer route for cyclists through the area
- Pavement improvements along the main boundary roads.
"These proposals are just part of Sefton Council’s wider commitment to improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as creating and improving our highway network for all users.
"Further details will be announced in due course."
