Lord Street in Southport crossing out of action after vehicle smashes into traffic light

The pedestrian crossing in between The Monument and Eastbank Street is out of action.

Overnight a vehicle has smashed into one of the traffic lights controlling the crossing and knocked it to the ground.

It is not known what type of vehicle hit the crossing or the condition of the driver.

The crossing is one of the busiest in Southport linking Chapel Street to Lord Street.
