Major disruption on the Merseyrail Southport and other northern lines

Earlier today a low speed train tripped a safety device leading to a controlled derailment. No passengers were on board and no one was hurt. We are working hard to move the stranded train but services are currently disrupted.

Cancellations to services from Southport Due to an operational incident at Liverpool Cntrl Northern all Northern lines are disrupted. Disruption is expected until 17:00 28/10.

Impact:

Train services from Southport will be cancelled or terminated at and started back from Sandhills.Customer

Advice:

Replacement road transport services are conveying passengers between Sandhills and Hunts Cross in both directions until further notice
