Major incident as Police cordon off the majority of Southport Town Centre -Video

The majority of Southport town centre is cordoned off this morning after a serious incident last night. The police cordon is from the Monument to Eastbank Street.

The cordon has been in place since approximately 9 pm yesterday.

A police car is outside Rebeccas Jewellers. A resident of Lord Street seemed to think that it was a robbery but this has to be confirmed.

Police have said

07:00 AM Diversions are in place due to Lord Street in Southport being closed between Eastbank Street and Neville Street. This is due to a police incident that occurred last night.

Traffic is diverted onto the promenade. Bus routes will follow this diversion.
