Man arrested after staff threatened at Southport job Centre and then ramming a police car

A Police spokesperson said “We are in the extremely early stages of an investigation into an incident on Eastbank Street this afternoon and we would urge anyone with any information to come forward.

The swift arrest today shows that we will not tolerate people being subject to violence and abuse while simply carrying out their work at the heart of our communities.

“While we have made an arrest, our enquiries continue and so if you witnessed the incident this afternoon, please come forward. Any information you hold could be vital to our investigation.”
