Man arrested after theft from cars in Grove Street Southport
At around 12.30am on Friday 12 November, Merseyside Police received a report that a man was acting suspiciously on Grove Street and trying car door handles.
Officers from Matrix Firearms searched the area and arrested a 57-year-old man who was sat in a car on nearby Elm Road.
A number of items including dashboard cameras and personal belongings have been recovered. Enquiries are now underway to identify and return the items to their rightful owners.
Graeme Fisher the community inspector for Southport said: “This is a positive result thanks to the report we received of man acting suspiciously trying car doors handles and walking up driveways on Grove Street.
“Officers carried out an extensive search of the area they were able to detain a man and recover a bag of stolen items.
“We are now appealing anyone in the vicinity with CCTV or doorbell camera footage which may assist the investigation.”
