Man arrested and large machete type knife recovered on Eastbank Street Southport

Police were called to Eastbank Street in Southport at approximately 9.30 am today. They appeared to go into the Biedrona Sweet Ltd eastern european delicatessian. Minutes later they arrested a man an placed him in van . 

A policeman then appeared with a large Machete type knife which was placed in a container for evidence. It is not known at the moment if it was an attempted robbery. Nobody was injured in the incident.

The man was taken to a police station for questioning.
