Police have charged a man with the supply of cocaine after a car was stopped for being uninsured by the Southport Local Policing and Targeted Team.

At around 2pm on Monday 12 December, officers stopped a black Vauxhall Astra on Benthams Way because the vehicle was uninsured.

Officers saw a large pot inside the car that contained wraps of suspected cocaine and the two men inside the vehicle were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled Class A drug.

A further search of a home linked to one of the men saw officers recover further wraps of suspected cocaine.

Anthony Holmes, 39, of Hall Street, Southport, has been charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled Class A drug (cocaine).

He appeared at Wirral Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 13 December and was remanded in custody to appear at Crown Court.

A 39-year-old from Southport was also arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled Class A drug and released under investigation.
