Man stabbed in attempted bike theft

A man has been arrested following an attempted robbery where a man was stabbed in Crosby this afternoon, Thursday 30 March.

At around 1.45pm, emergency services were called to Bridge Road after a report that a man had been stabbed as a robber had attempted to steal his bike.

The victim suffered injuries to his face and arm and has been taken to hospital for treatment.
Officers attended and following a search of the area arrested an 18-year-old man from Seaforth on suspicion of wounding and robbery and is in police custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said: “We are in the very early stages of an investigation after a man was stabbed following an attempted robbery on Bridge Road.

“Although an arrest has been made, our enquiries continue, and we’d still urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or captured the incident on dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage which may be vital to the case.”

DI Mulcahy added: “Our officers are committed in removing anyone who stores, carries and uses weapons through proactive use of stop and search powers, open land searches, warrants and education work alongside partners.

“The use of knives and any weapons is reckless and will not be tolerated, and can have devastating consequences, not only for the victim and their family but also for the offenders involved.
“I would urge people to educate themselves and speak to their children and family members about the dangers of knife crime.

“We continue to seek out those involved in knife crime, enticing young and vulnerable people to carry weapons or involved in gangs.”
