Man stabbed on Lord Street in Southport

Detectives are appealing for information following a stabbing in Southport last night, Friday, 21 February.

At about 7.40pm, officers were called to Lord Street, following reports that a man had been stabbed outside the Glasshouse public house. It is believed that the 24-year-old victim sustained a stab wound to his side following an argument with three other males, one of whom as wearing a balaclava.

The injured man was taken to hospital where he is being treated for the injury sustained, which is not serious.

Crime Scene Investigators are carrying out forensic examination at the scene and CCTV enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher, said: "The investigation is in its early stages and enquiries are ongoing to identify those involved in the assault and to establish the circumstances leading up to the incident.

“The use of knives and other weapons on the streets can have catastrophic consequences for all of those involved, and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information which could assist our inquiries to come forward.

“Lord Street is a busy road and I would appeal to any motorists who were driving along Lord Street at the time of the incident who have dashcam that may have recorded the incident to contact us."

A 24-year-old man from Bootle has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug following the incident.
