Marine Drive closure causes chaos on the Promenade in Southport

The closure of the Marine Drive in Southport for the Air Show has caused chaos on the Promenade in Southport this morning.

Traffic is being diverted along the Promenade in both directions. The problem is that there is a set of temporary traffic lights at the crossing at Scarisbrick Avenue meaning only one lane of traffic is moving at any time.

Work is in progress to open up the Promenade in both directions as soon as possible before the Air Show begins
