Marine Drive Southport closed to traffic between 7.00am and 1.00pm Sunday for Seaside 10k

In order to carry out the Southport seaside 10km road race and to maintain safety for participants and the general public, it will be necessary to close Marine Drive between Fairway and the roundabout at the top of the beach access at the rear of Pleasureland, the south-east bound carriageway of Marine Drive and Esplanade between the roundabout at the top of the beach access and the roundabout at Kingsway, the cycle way on Fairway. 

 The event will take place on Sunday 5th September 2021 and the aforementioned roads will be closed between 07.00 hours and 13.00 hours. 

The diversion route for northbound traffic will be via Weld Road, A565 Lulworth Road, A565 Lord Street, Leicester Street, Promenade and Fairway, and the diversion route for southbound traffic will be via Fairway, Promenade, Esplanade, Marine Drive.

The race itself is 2 laps around Marine Lake and Ocean Plaza, taking in the model railway, Silcock’s fun land, Pleasureland and the pier. With only 75ft of elevation, and closed roads along Marine Drive, it promises to be a fast and fun course.

Presentations will take place for the top three men and women immediately at the finish.
