Mercedes ends up in the Marine Lake in Southport

Emergency services were called to Marine Lake in Southport in the early hours of February 1st. The driver of a Mercedes lost control on the Promenade near Saunders St and crashed into the lake. Police,Fire, and Lifeboat crews, along with the Coastguard and Ambulance, all attended. The Police helicopter was also there.

According to witnesses, the vehicle was being chased by police but this has not been confirmed. A search was carried out to locate the driver who appears to have fled the scene.
