Merseyrail trains on Southport and other lines will soon be back to normal
Due to an increase in staff availability, Merseyrail services will increase from Monday 14 February.
Staffing numbers were impacted by the COVID Omicron variant resulting in a reduction to a 30-minute timetable, but we are now able to provide more services across the Liverpool City Region.
From Monday 14 February:
- Southport and Hunts Cross lines - Trains will run every 20 minutes from the start to the end of service.
- Ormskirk and Kirkby lines - Trains will run every 20 minutes until 20:00, then every 30 minutes until the end of service.
- West Kirby and New Brighton lines - Trains will run every 20 minutes until 19:00, then every 30 minutes until the end of service.
- Chester line - Trains will run every 15 minutes from 07:00 until 19:00. They will run every 30 minutes before 07:00 and after 19:00 until the end of service.
- Ellesmere Port line - Trains will continue to run every 30 minutes from the start to the end of service.
