Merseyside Fire Service tackling a fire in Moss Lane Southport

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire down Moss Lane this afternoon. The fire was down a track at the rear of Meols Hall. A section of the allotments was on fire.

Due to the icy conditions, the fire engines were unable to get near the fire meaning hundreds of yards of hose had to be joined together to get water to the fire.

The fire was soon extinguished and the cause is yet to be established.
