Michael Gove gets involved in Southport Pier restoration

It is no secret that Southport Pier is, and has for a while been, in dire need of maintenance. Today, I met with the Levelling Up Secretary, Michael Gove MP, to raise the case for increased funding.

The Secretary of State was very receptive to our concerns, having visited Southport earlier this year and seen for himself many of our wonderful local businesses, and promised to speak with the Chancellor about this important matter.

There is still more work to do, but we are making progress, and I will not stop until this vital cultural and economic asset is reopened and preserved for the future.
