"Mini Police" targeting speeding drivers on Pinfold Lane in Southport

The 'Mini Police' from Norwood Primary school were deployed to respond to residents complaints of speeding on the Coastal Road between the Bypass and Pinfold Lane junction yesterday, Thursday 19th October.

This year's recruits were shown how the speed gun operates and given opportunities to use it under supervision of Police Officers from the Community Engagement Team and Southport Neighbourhood Policing Team. Drivers who's speed was over the limit were given the choice of receiving a fine or being advised about their driving by the 'Mini Police'. All chose the latter and apologised to the mini officers before being allowed to go on their way.

Drivers should expect to see 'Maxi-Police Officers' conducting similar operations in the same area over the coming months, as the area is statistically one where a number of road traffic collisions have occurred.
