MP honoured to be nominated to Hall of Fame for BSL work

West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has been nominated for the ‘Signature Hall of Fame’ for her work with the Deaf Community.  

Signature are the leading awarding body for deaf communication qualifications in the UK. To celebrate their 40th year, the charity are holding a one off event at Manchester’s National Football Museum to recognise the people who have gone above and beyond to improve deaf communication.  

MP Rosie has been nominated for her work introducing to Parliament and securing support across all political parties for the British Sign Language Bill, which has now been passed into Law.   

Rosie Cooper MP said:
“I am truly honoured to be on the shortlist for the Signature Hall of Fame amongst the likes of Rose Ayling Ellis and Paddy Ladd and so many others that have done incredible work within the Deaf community.  

“When I presented the BSL Bill before Parliament just over a year ago, no one could have predicted the huge support the campaign would receive. The cultural shift this past year towards acceptance of BSL and of Deaf people has been nothing short of phenomenal and I am proud to have played a part.   

“This will be a fantastic event at the National Football Museum and a testament to every Deaf campaigner, like my dad, that came before and made such a huge difference and inspired such hope.
