National trust at Formby near Southport close car parks for safety reasons
For safety both car parks closed
To keep visitors, staff and volunteers safe both car parks are closed for the rest of the day and overnight. This is due to the extremely high temperatures and red weather warnings. Please plan your visit for another day.
Here's some useful information;
Merseyrail are advising passengers not to travel unless essential.
We are in close contact with local partners including the emergency services to ensure they have access to the site.
Parking restrictions and fines are in place on surrounding residential roads - please park responsibly and do not block driveways, pavements or road access for emergency vehicles.
Everyone already parked on site will be able to leave at any point through the exit flow plates.
The team will re-open the car parks as soon possible, hopefully at some point tomorrow. Please bear with us. Sadly, there has been an increase in fires, BBQs and huge amounts of litter being left behind.
We will need to carry out safety checks and maintenance across the site before re-opening including clearing as much litter as we can to prevent it being washed out to sea.
Thank you for your support and understanding - please stay safe, seek shade and drink lots of water.
