National Trust Victoria Road in Formby near Southport car park still closed. Lifeboat Road open

Lifeboat Road car park open

The team are delighted to confirm that thanks to our friends at Sefton Council the hanging tree has been removed from the public highway leading to the car park. Toilets at Lifeboat Road are also open 10am – 4pm daily.

Victoria Road car park and toilets will remain closed for the Christmas holidays and into early January. This is for the safety of visitors, volunteers and staff, as there are many unstable trees around popular areas that need to be made safe.

The recent stormy weather has also caused significant flooding of the beach car park.

The team are working hard to welcome you back to these car parks.

Whilst you wander please stay safe, stick to open spaces and away from woodland areas due to storm damaged trees.

Formby’s nature haven is often busy on crisp, wintery days over the festive season, particularly at weekends and on bank holidays. Due to recent storms parking space is reduced.

Here’s some useful information if you’re planning a visit over the Christmas holidays.

Head to Lifeboat Road car park (L37 2EB). Victoria Road car parks are closed due to essential tree safety work and flooding.

Official car park opening times for winter are between 9am and 4pm. The welcome team will be out and about most days during this time to help you enjoy your visit.

Toilets are available at Lifeboat Road open between 10am and 4pm (closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). Toilets are closed at Victoria Road.

Lifeboat Road boardwalk is open but high winds can cause piles of sand to form. The team regularly check and clear it but please bear with us.

Winter brings more stormy days so please take care around the sand dunes as cliffs can form and sometimes collapse after very high, rough tides.

Whilst you wander, please stick to open spaces and keep a safe distance from woodland areas due to storm damaged trees.

Help wading birds on the shore rest before their long journey ahead by keeping your distance.

Please bring a bag for your litter and take home to recycle or pop in the car park bins.

Don’t forget to check the tide times before you visit here https://bbc.in/3xi2Ndj
