Join forces

Sefton Council is encouraging everyone to join forces in a spring clean of their neighbourhood.

Residents and community groups are being urged to litter pick as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s annual Great British Spring Clean, in addition to the council’s daily clean-ups.

The national campaign, which runs fromFriday 13th to 29th March,gives people a chance to show they “love where they live”.

Cleaner, Greener, Together

It is also part of Sefton’s new “cleaner, greener, together” campaign working with communities, businesses, public bodies and voluntary groups.

22 miles of coastline

With 22 miles of coastline, parks, open spaces and numerous high streets, volunteers have plenty of spots from which to choose.

Come together to take pride in our borough

Cllr Peter Harvey, Cabinet Member for Cleansing and Street Scene said:

“Keeping our streets, parks and coastline clean is something every one of us can play a part in.

“The Great British Spring Clean is a chance for our whole community to come together, take pride in our borough and make a visible difference to the places we all love. It can be fun and is a great way of bringing communities closer.

“Whether you’re collecting one bag of litter or organising a group effort, every action helps protect our environment and keeps Sefton looking its best. And it’s part of our wider effort to make Sefton cleaner, greener, together.”

Contact the Street Cleansing Team

Volunteers organising their own litter pick, can collect their bags by contacting the council’s Street Cleansing Team.

Please email abigail.fantin@sefton.gov.uk and tell us:

Amazing support from Sefton Council

Keep Britain Tidy’s Chief Executive, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, added:
“We are so grateful for the amazing support from Sefton Council.

“The Great British Spring Clean is a fantastic way for councils to support residents to really show their pride in where they live, and connect with like-minded people, while taking serious and immediate action to protect the environment on their doorstep.

“We are humbled to see our army of Litter Heroes volunteers carrying out these acts of kindness to make the planet a cleaner, safer place for our future generations.”

Dispose of litter correctly

Volunteers should dispose of the litter collected by placing the bags next to a public litter bin or agreeing a collection point with a member of the team.
