New Years Eve message from Merseyside Police

This New Years Eve we want you to have a great time wherever you're celebrating. That's why you'll see lots of police officers patrolling Merseyside's busy town centres and Liverpool city centre throughout the evening and into the early hours.

It has been a difficult year for lots of people but Merseysiders are known for their kindness, their spirit and their sense of community.

So if you're having a night out in town, going to a house party or hosting one yourself, please make sure you look after yourself and your mates.

Our officers will be working with council licensing teams and pub staff to make sure people are safe inside and outside venues, and we'll be working with public transport and the taxi trade to help people get home safe after a great night out.
