One arrested and five cautioned for use of off road Motorbikes in Kew Woods Southport
In the last week, Police Officers from the Neighbourhood Team based at Southport Police Station have been responding to concerns of 'County Lines' drug supply into Formby and Ainsdale, and the anti-social use of illegal electric cycles/scooters and anti-social use of off-road motorcycles.
On Tuesday evening, officers on Operation Luminosity seized two 'Sur-Ron' type electric bikes and an electric scooter in the area between Hightown and Formby. All three riders were reported for Road Traffic Offences and two of the three were arrested for possession of class 'B' drugs.
On Wednesday evening the team responded to complaints of off-road motorcycles being used in the area of Kew Woods. Six men were found to be using four off road motorcycles and one electric scooter. The four motorcycles and the scooter were seized. One man was arrested for possession of a controlled drug, dangerous driving and disqualified driving. The other five men were all issued with warnings under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act. These warnings mean that, should the five men be found using any other mechanically propelled vehicle in an anti-social manner in the next 12 months, those vehicles can also be seized.
If you know where these types of vehicles are being stored, or want to report anything else, you can report anonymously via Crimestoppers.
