Oxford City 1 Southport 1
Southport returned from Oxford with a point after a much improved second half performance. It did however take the homer side to take the lead in the 49th minute to spark some life into the visitors.
It was a first half best forgotten for both sides with chances in short supply but Chris Renshaw in the Southport goal had to be on his toes a couple of times to save snap shots from the Oxford attack.
We fell behind when the defence failed to cut out a cross whch fell kindly to Jack Roddy on the edge of the area and his half volley flew past Renshaw into the goal,
The equaliser came when a Danny Lloyd free kick was floated into the area and Festus Arthur got a great header in which the keeper could only parry away and Danny Philliskirk was on hand to tap home from close range.
The large Southport contingent behind the goal who gave the team fantastic backing throughout the game sensed a winner was on the cards but despite a few close shaves that final touch was missing and we had to settle for our first away draw of the season on the road.
