People missing at Southport Beach prompt lifeboat and quad response

Southport ILB and quads were tasked to reports of people missing in the water at Southport Beach.

Shortly after arriving at the boathouse, all persons were accounted for and our units were stood down.

Later in the afternoon, our quads were tasked to RSPB Marshside following reports of an individual walking towards Lytham across the marshes.

Southport Coastguard spotted the person towards Lytham. Our UAS launched and, using the drone’s range finder laser, the crew were able to provide the quads with the individual’s What3Words location to assist in coordination.

The individual made their way back to shore and was met by Southport Coastguard for a well-being check.

Southport quads were asked by Holyhead Coastguard to standby at Weld Road after a family got into difficulty in the mud.

Southport quads deployed and remained on scene alongside the Coastguard, while RNLI beach lifeguards escorted the family back to shore.
