Pigeons enjoying life on Southport Pier as it remains closed
Pigeons are enjoying life on Southport Pier as it remains closed to the public. The Pier has been closed since the cold spell of weather in December.
The Council said recently...
As we said when the closure was announced, Southport Pier will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. Regular inspections will take place and updates will be shared in due course.
‘We appreciate this is a frustrating time for people working on and around the pier but we are sure that they, like the council, wouldn’t want any members of the public or their colleagues put in any risk of harm by venturing onto the pier in current conditions.”
It is shocking that there have been no updates and nothing is being done. The signs say the pier is closed for essential maintenance, well as far as I can see nobody is doing anything.
Pictures of the decking taken today show no signs of damage that is bad enough to close the attraction. There may be a few wobbly planks but there always are.
Southport Pier is the towns number-one attraction and it needs sorting quickly before the pigeons take over.
The Councillors for the area should hang their heads in shame.
