Points failure leads to major disruption on Merseyrail Southport line

Due to a points failure at Southport the Southport line is disrupted. Disruption is expected until 11:15 05/11.
Impact:
Train services to and from Southport will be suspended between Hillside and Southport.
Customer Advice:
Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on replacement road transport services between Hillside and Southport via Birkdale in both directions until further notice. Valid rail tickets will be accepted on Stagecoach X2 and Arrival 47. Due to Birkdale crossing being closed buses may meet with delay.
