Police and Council carry out checks on Southport taxi drivers and their vehicles

Constable  Whiteley and Constable  Jackson worked in partnership with Sefton Council Taxi Licensing to perform vehicle and driver checks on private hire and hackney taxis in the Southport area. 

Operation Muse was planned to prevent illegitimate taxi hire vehicles from working within the area, and ensuring vehicles are up to licensing standards. 

During these hours 17 taxi’s were stopped; 11 Private Hire and 6 Hackneys. 4 Vehicle defect tickets were issued by Sefton council and 3 vehicles were taken off road due to offences.
