Police called to search for town centre shoplifter in Southport

Police were called to Chapel Street in Southport at approximately 9.45 am today following reports of a shoplifter operating in the area. Three police vehicles were on the scene as officers searched along Chapel Street and into Tulketh Street.

Officers visited a number of shops in the search but did not catch the culprit this time.

Police are also following cash in transit vehicles to deter criminals from attacking the staff of these vehicles.
