Police clamp down on use of off road motorbikes in the Formby near Southport area

Officers in the Formby area have noticed an increase in the use of off road scrambler motor cycles and electric Sur-Ron bikes (pictured), being used in an anti-social manner around the area. Often these bikes are ridden dangerously fast on the roads and the riders show no regard for the safety of others roads users, pedestrians or their own personal safety.  They are commonly ridden without the use of helmets, protective clothing or full insurance. Merseyside Police officers in Formby are actively looking to stop and seize bikes being ridden illegally and prosecute any person riding the bikes.  

This activity is part of Operation Brookdale, the ongoing Merseyside Police response targeting the illegal and anti-social use of off-road bikes across Merseyside.
