Police cordon off a section of Nevill Street in Southport after incident

Merseyside police have cordoned off a section of pavement in Nevill Street Southport outside Silcocks Amusements and the Empire Chinese Restaurant during the night.

Officers at the scene would not say what the incident was as they are waiting for Scientific Support to arrive.

Police will release more information later.
