Police Investigate String of Burglaries in Southport's Daytime Hours

Police continue to investigate a series of daytime burglaries in Southport. In each of these burglaries the offender(s) have made way to the rear of properties and used items to smash rear patio door glass to gain entry. Items stolen have generally been jewellery, watches and cash, though some ipads/laptops have also been stolen. Each address has been attended by CSI.

If you live close by to one of these burglaries you will have been visited by PCSO's or have had a letter through your door appealing for any witnesses or CCTV. This is important to the investigations.

Home owners are advised to consider their own home security at this time. Domestic burglaries can be deeply upsetting, especially where items of personal value are stolen. Items of value should be kept secure and out of sight. If you have CCTV or doorbell cameras, ensure that it is working and that lenses are clear and not obscured.

Ensure that tools and garden equipment are not left out in rear gardens and are locked in sheds.
Finally, do not hesitate to call on 101 to report anyone acting suspiciously around your home or the homes of neighbours and dial 999 if you believe a burglary may be in progress.
