Police issue weather warning for Southport and the surrounding area

Whilst Scotland is bearing the brunt of Storm Babet, the Met Office still have a YELLOW warning in place that covers the north west.

That warning is for high winds and prolonged rain from midnight tonight, Thursday 19th until 06:00am Saturday.

Keep watching for updated forecasts and take precautions accordingly. ie cyclists/motorcyclists should try to find alternative transport if the high winds hit the north west coast.

Drivers of high sided vehicles should take care on exposed roads such as the Formby Bypass and Marine Drive.
Pedestrians should be aware of the risk from debris in high winds, falling trees etc.
Hopefully, it will pass without too much disruption.
