Officers from Merseyside Police arrested a man who was in a bus shelter on Lord Street this afternoon. The man was being questioned by two PCSO's at about 1.20 when he suddenly started shouting and lashing out at the officers.

They calmed him down and called for backup which duly arrived in a couple of minutes. Eight officers had surrounded the man in the bus stop who once again started shouting and lashing out. He was placed in handcuffs and taken to a Police vehicle for transportation to the Police Station.

Merseyside Police have been approached for a comment.
