Police Seeking Man in Connection with Southport Pub Assault
Detectives have issued CCTV images of a man who could have information that may assist with their enquiries following an assault in Southport.
At around 11.30pm on Friday 12 April, two men and a woman entered The Southport Coaster pub on Lord Street when an argument between them occurred.
The woman became aggressive and was escorted out by a member of staff. However, one man assaulted the member of staff by pushing him to the floor, then punched and kicked him.
The male suspect then made off towards the Prince of Wales hotel.
CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect responsible, and detectives have issued images of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.
Inspector Edward Barr said: “This was a dangerous and reckless attack that has left the victim shaken and he required hospital treatment for his injuries.
“This incident took place at a time when there would have been busy with people enjoying the start of the weekend, so if you were in the vicinity and saw anything, then please contact us.
“We are taking this incident extremely seriously and I am appealing to the man featured in these images, or anyone who recognises him to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
