Police statement after woman stabbed in Churchtown, Southport

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said:

"We can confirm we are investigating an incident in Southport following reports that a woman sustained a serious leg injury last night, Monday 9 October. It was reported at around 9.20pm that a woman, aged in her 30s, needed medical attention following an incident on Botanic Road, in Churchtown.

"The woman was taken to hospital with a puncture wound to her leg and she remains in hospital this morning (Tuesday 10 October) in a stable condition. Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of this incident and if you have any information, please call 101 or DM us on Twitter @MerPolCC or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook, quoting reference 23000985414."
