Emergency services attended following a report that a man’s body had been found at Southport Promenade this morning, Monday 24 October.

At around 8.40 am we received a report that a body of a man in his 30's was found on Southport Pier and was sadly pronounced deceased.

The man’s death is currently being treated as unexplained and a report is being prepared for the Coroner’s Office.

A scene is currently in place and road closures are in place at the roundabout of Marine Drive and Marine Parade while officers remain in the area.

Eyeonsouthport comment.

We believe that this statement is wrong as the Pier was open to the public and as the picture shows the police are the other side of The Marine Way Bridge.
