Police to mark flagstones in Churches in the Ormskirk Halsall and Southport areas after thefts
We are aware of and are actively investigating several high value thefts of Yorkstone from various churches around the county. As you may well know, Yorkstone is very high value and thousands of pounds worth have been taken from each establishment, each within the space of half an hour.
In response to these heritage crimes we have been looking at ways we can protect your community and our religious establishments.
As part of the solution we have sourced some protective marking equipment, which we can use to securely mark highly desirable Yorkstone Flags. We will be visiting as many places as we can in the coming weeks.
If this is something you would be interested in and you would like to talk to us about how this can help your religious establishment, please drop an email to [email protected] or [email protected]
In the meantime, we would like to urge people to be vigilant in hours of darkness around places that have Yorkstone pavements and walls. Some of these places have very little in the way of CCTV and lighting, especially in graveyards. We need the support of our community to help us detect crime and you can do this by reporting any suspicious activity to us by calling 101, or on 999 if you believe a crime is in progress. Alternatively, you can report incidents online at https://orlo.uk/4raUO
