Policing operation at the Grand National Festival hailed a success
This year's policing operation at the Grand National Festival at Aintree has been hailed a success and the Force would like to thank the thousands of race-goers for their behaviour throughout.
More than 150,000 people attended the event and each day has seen a great atmosphere with fantastic crowds.
Chief Inspector Matthew Moscrop said: "Grand National Day is always the busiest of the three and we’re really glad that this year’s festival ended on a high, with everyone having had a safe and enjoyable time.
"Despite the high number of race-goers there has only been four people arrested and taken into custody over the three days. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, including those who worked during the festival, for helping to make this a safe and enjoyable occasion.
“I would remind everyone who may be continuing celebrations into this evening to stay safe, drink responsibly and have a great time.”
