Portuguese Man o'War which can be deadly to humans washed up on Southport beach
Warnings have been issued by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution after 'deadly' sea creatures washed up on the Southport coastline.
Green Sefton commented...
Some remarkable finds on the Sefton Coast after Tropical Storm Wanda - including a Portuguese Man O' War.
These spectacular colonies of oceanic organisms - they are Hydrozoans not Jellyfish - can deliver a painful sting even when dead, so if you find one, look but do NOT touch.
They are rare, however the weekend's strong winds and high tides may deliver more to the north west coastline.
