Project Servator Officers Deployed at Southport and Liverpool FC

cops

Our #ProjectServator officers deployed in Southport and at Liverpool FC Anfield today.

These patrols are different to normal police operations. We've been using this specialist tactic throughout Merseyside since 2018 and it is regularly part of our protective security measures for large events, which are planned for many months. The aim is to disrupt a variety of criminality, including terrorism, while providing a reassuring presence for the public.

The deployments use uniformed and plain-clothes officers who are specially trained to spot the tell-tale signs that someone may have criminal intent such as gathering information to help them plan or prepare to commit a crime. Officers will also liaise with staff and speak to members of the public to encourage vigilance and the reporting of suspicious activity.

With concerts scheduled at LFC's Anfield stadium and the 154th Open at Birkdale Golf Club this summer, it's not too early for officers to pop up at these locations and use a variety of tactics including vehicle checkpoints to disrupt criminal activity.

If you see a Project Servator deployment, feel free to talk to officers and find out how you can help keep people safe by reporting anything you see or hear that doesn't feel right to staff, security or a police officer, or by calling 101. In an emergency, always call 999.
