New Belong village in Birkdale to open with independent living apartments

Belong Birkdale, the new state-of-the-art village for older people from the leading dementia specialist, has released its independent living apartments for rent or purchase as it counts down to its January 2027 opening. 

In just weeks since the release, ten of the Oxford Road village’s 30 one and two-bed apartments have already been reserved by Sandgrounders as the not-for-profit operator prepares to open its doors in Merseyside for the first time.  

Apartment tenants will be able to enjoy the integrated retirement community’s amenities, including bistro, salon, specialist gym, gardens, and entertainment venue with licensed bar. Open to the public, the village centre is set to offer a welcoming focal point for the neighbourhood. Moreover, a vibrant experiences and activities programme will foster a strong community spirit whilst bringing the chance to make friends.  

Ainsdale Beach, Victoria Park, and famous flower-filled Rotten Row are on the doorstep, whilst town centre amusements, including Lord Street shopping, The Atkinson arts venue, and Southport Market, are a short distance away.

For tenants in need of a helping hand, Belong’s Outstanding CQC-rated home care service, Belong at Home Southport, will be available for personal care, domestic duties, and food preparation, as well as running errands, organising excursions, and offering companionship.  

With the village offering a continuum of care, there is also provision for 24-hour nursing, dementia and residential care in small ‘households’ – an award-winning model of care proven to enable a more personalised approach and positive wellbeing outcomes. Each household accommodates up to a dozen residents with private ensuite bedrooms and shared living, kitchen, dining and outdoor spaces.
