Queens Road in Southport to be closed to traffic again as Council issue order
After being reopened to traffic recently because the TTRO expired Sefton Council have now reinstated the order.
About two cyclists an hour use the road. Banning traffic from Queens road means longer journeys for motorists adding to pollution.
A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: “A temporary traffic regulation order (TTRO) for Queen's Road, Southport will come into effect from July 29.
"The order will prohibit all south-westbound vehicle traffic from Park Road, as well as north-eastbound from the junction with Manchester Road.
"This temporary order does not apply to busses or pedal cycles and is done so in conjunction with a number of cycle lane installations in the town centre.
"Motorists are advised a diversion route is in place via Alexandra Road and Leyland Road."
