Queenscourt Santa Sprint – Malcolm’s Song - Video
Malcolm Chisholm and his wife Alison, from Birkdale Southport, are supporting this year’s Santa Sprint. The pair have written a very special song for our annual festive fundraiser with the hope of encouraging even more people to take part in this year’s event.
Malcolm, a retired College Lecturer, has a passion for creating music and performing it to his close friends. He created the melody for the song (originally about a trip to Blackpool) and then performed it for a group of friends who are taking part in Santa Sprint.
As he was singing his song about visiting Blackpool, he came up with the line: “We’re all on the Santa Sprint for Queenscourt.” He then sang this line in the same tune as his original song and challenged his wife Alison, who is a poet, to come up with lyrics for the rest of the melody!
When explaining what inspired him to produce a song for Santa Sprint, Malcolm said: “The work that Queenscourt Hospice does is amazing, and they are so caring and compassionate. Alison’s Sisters’ husband was cared for by #teamqueenscourt and the wife of a very good friend of mine was also cared for by the hospice.”
Malcolm and Alison have kindly gifted the song to #teamqueenscourt, and we would like to say a huge thank you to them for this unusual musical gift!
This year’s Santa Sprint takes place on Sunday 3rd December, and once again there will be both a 3K and 5K route for you to walk, jog or run. The route which starts and finishes at Silcock’s Funland, is also suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, pushchairs and buggies.
If you haven’t signed up for Santa Sprint already, hopefully this wonderful song has inspired you to join in with our festive fundraiser this year. Not only is Santa Sprint great fun, but it also raises much needed income for our charity so that #teamqueenscourt can continue to provide exceptional compassionate care for local people, when they need us the most.
Visit www.queenscourt.org.uk/santasprint to sign up before online registration closes on Friday 1st December. Or head down to Silcock’s Funland on the day and sign up there!
