Ready for School this September? Join in on the Thrive Before 5 Experience!

FUNfun

Fun activities to do with your child this summer before they start school in September.

This summer, we are inviting families to take part in activities as part of our Thrive Before 5 campaign.

It is designed for children who are starting school in September. The aim is to help them feel happy, confident and ready to learn.

There are 21 simple activities for you to try together at home or out and about. They are easy to do and built around everyday family life.

What is Thrive Before 5?

The activities come from the50 Things to Do Before You’re Fiveinitiative. They are all about giving children new experiences and helping them to learn through play.

By taking part, your child can practise important skills like talking, listening, playing with others and taking turns. These are all things that help children to settle into reception at school.

You don’t need special equipment. Many of the activities can be done using things you already have at home, like dancing in the kitchen or using soap to make potions in the bath.

Make it fun this summer holidays

Across Sefton, you may see Thrive Before 5 banners near schools and nurseries. Each banner shows one activity and has a QR code for you to scan to find out more.

You could even turn it into a fun family challenge by going on a "banner hunt" in your local area to see how many you can find.

We have also created a booklet that you can use to tick off the activities as you complete them together.

Printed copies of the activity booklet are available at our Family Hubs and local libraries.

You can also download a copy by visiting our Early Years Padlet wall.
