Reliving the Glory: Red Rum Paraded at Haig Avenue 50 Years Ago Today

50 Years ago Southport’s Red Rum was paraded around Haig Avenue, after his first Grand National win, ahead of our game against Lincoln City which we won 1-0 on route to the Football League Division 4 Title.

It was 50 years ago tonight that promotion to Football League Divison 3 was confirmed after a 2-0 win at Crewe Alexandra, the scorers on that memorable evening were Andy Provan and Frank Lee.
