Road closures in Southport and the surrounding area for Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Parade

Remembrance Sunday events will be taking place at several local war memorials across Sefton tomorrow, Sunday the 12th November.

 The locations are:
SOUTHPORT TOWN CENTRE (The Monument)
AINSDALE (Village Green)
HIGHTOWN (Roundabout at St. Stephens Church)
INCE BLUNDELL (Back o' The Town Lane)
FORMBY (Parade between Gild Hall on Church Road and Holy Trinity Church on Rosemary Lane)

As happens every year, this will mean some temporary road closures in most places between 10:00 - 12:00 while wreaths are laid etc.

For the smaller events the road closures will be quite short. In Southport town centre, Lord Street and roads round The Monument itself will be closed to traffic at the traffic lights for a period between 10:00AM - 12:00PM. Anyone planning to drive through this area should take alternative routes such as The Promenade or side streets that will avoid the traffic lights at Lord Street/Nevill Street and the roads immediately around The Monument itself.

The parade at FORMBY starts at 2:00PM and traffic will be halted by a process of rolling roadblocks to allow the parade to march from The Gild Hall on CHURCH ROAD to Holy Trinity Church on ROSEMARY LANE. This parade will then return to the Gild Hall starting at 4:00PM.
Thank you in advance for your co-operation in helping these events take place without traffic issues.
