Roe Deer spotted in Ainsdale Nature Reserve in Southport

Green Sefton commented yesterday...

It's not just cows and sheep that roam the fenced grazing area at Ainsdale Local Nature Reserve...

Thick mist at one point this morning meant we could get fairly close to this female Roe Deer, especially as we were downwind of her.

Roe Deer are seen frequently on the coast now but can be very good at melting into cover.

Even in poor light though their big white bums give them away!

Please remember to keep dogs under close control in the fenced grazing area for the well-being not just of the Belted Galloway cows and Herdwick Sheep, but for the site's largest wild animal, the Roe Deer!

The dune system is a nature reserve after all.
