Rosie Cooper MP welcomes Southport and Ormskirk hospital patient visiting changes
Rosie Cooper MP has today welcomed the return to pre-pandemic visiting arrangements within Southport & Ormskirk Hospital for both children and adult patients.
The West Lancashire MP commented:
“I was concerned to hear reports that only one parent was being allowed to stay with their child at the paediatric emergency department. This was really worrying, as it prevents both parents from being able to have an equal say in their child’s treatment or care.
“Outrageously, I was even told in one instance parents were told that until one parent left they would not begin treating the child!
“I am pleased to now be told that the pre-pandemic arrangements have been reinstated, allowing both parents to be with their children in the Hospital, rather than one being shut out.
“Whilst this is welcome news, I have asked for assurances that should this one parent policy be reintroduced, there will be a clear mechanism for both parents to have a say in their child’s care and treatment.”
